Lawn Care Workshops

Lawn Care Workshops

Learn how to care for your lawn by identifying practices that are beneficial or detrimental. Learn how to identify common plant problems in your yard and solutions that identify what is troubling your yard.

This will help to reduce the amount pesticides used on your property (from widespread application) and save money. Using pesticides (herbicides and insecticides) properly and sparingly will help to protect the quality of rivers, lakes and streams. The workshops are held in partnership with the Clean Water Campaign and the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service.

Excessive amounts of fertilizer and pesticides would harm fish and other aquatic life as well as degrade the quality of rivers, lakes and streams. Nutrients from fertilizers- usually phosphates- enter rivers, lakes and streams and stimulate the growth of algae. Excessive algae growth harms oxygen levels in lakes and ponds, thus killing fish and other aquatic life.
